This probably sounds a little corny, but you should vote. Seriously, voting is a great way to influence the place you live. Here is what you need to know:

Before you can do anything you need to register.
The County Tax Assessor-Collector is the Voter Registrar for Bell County. As soon as you establish residence in Bell County, you are qualified to register to vote in Bell County. Other requirements for voter registration include minimum age of 18 (you may register within 2 months of your 18th birthday). You must be a United States citizen. You may not register to vote if you have been declared mentally incapacitated or if you have been convicted of a felony crime unless that disability has been removed. You regain the right to vote after you complete your sentence or probation. Voter registration applications are available at any of our full service locations. They are also available at area libraries, Department of Public Safety and Texas Department of Human Services offices. You may write or call us for an application by mail. You may also request a voter registration application below. Your voter registration is valid as long as you notify us of your current address.
Check to see if you are already registered.
You may fill out a voter registration application online, print it and mail it to the Bell County tax assessor. You are not registered until you have filled out the online application, printed it, and mailed it to your local County Voter Registrar. The County Voter Registrar’s address can be found at the top of the online outputted voter registration application once you have submitted your information from the fill-in-the blanks screen.

City of Killeen

The City of Killeen practices a Council-Manager form of government. The Mayor and Council appoint the City Manager, who serves as the Chief Administrator of the City organization.
There are eight members on the Killeen City Council: one mayor and seven councilmembers. The Council is the governing body of the City of Killeen, Texas, consisting of three at-large and four district councilmembers, as set forth in the City Charter, and the Mayor is the presiding officer at City Council meetings and the recognized head of the City government for all ceremonial purposes. Each member serves a staggered two-year term. Thus, four of the members (district Councilmembers) are elected in odd-numbered years by voters living in the district they represent. The remaining four members (Mayor and the three at-large) are elected in even-numbered years by all voters in the city. By Charter, term limits are in place, meaning the Mayor and Councilmembers may serve in their respective seats for a maximum of six years or three consecutive terms.
City of Harker Heights
The City of Harker Heights is a home rule City which operates under a Council-Manager form of government. All powers of the City shall be vested in the elective Council which enact local legislation, adopt budgets, determine policies and employ the City Manager, who shall execute the laws and administer the government of the City. The City Council consist of a Mayor and five council members who elect one of their members to serve as Mayor-Protempore. The Mayor and City Council serve a three year term and are eligible to run for two consecutive three year terms at which point they would not be eligible to run for a seat without a one year vacancy.
The City of Harker Heights Council Meetings are held in the Kitty Young Council Chambers located in the City Hall building at 305 Miller’s Crossing. Council Meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. Items may be placed on the City Council agenda by submitting a written request for placement with the Assistant City Manager no less than seven days prior to the scheduled Council meeting.
City of Nolanville
The Nolanville City Council is a body of six citizens elected by the registered voters. It is a mayor and five at-large council members. The City Council meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month at the JW Sims Community Center.
